Our visual arts program aims to build creative skills and critical thinking through lessons that teach the principles of art and artistic processes.  Experimentation, revision, focus, and critical assessment of one’s work are continually encouraged and modeled. Students are challenged to design, compose and reflect, using a variety of media, processes, and concepts.

K1 and Kindergarten

• Identify different types of lines in a picture book, and then create “scribble art zentangles”
• Identify and use warm and cool colors
• learn about texture and pattern and add these to works
• Create art that conveys specific emotions
• learn about and experiment with contrast and unity
• learn about and use symmetry
• learn about reductive art using crayons, paint and scratching tools

Grades 1st and 2nd

Grades 6th – 7th

The Saint Bridget School library serves both elementary and middle school students.  The dual mission of the Library program are to promote life-long reading for educational and recreational purposes as well as ensuring that students are effective and ethical users of information.

This mission is accomplished by:

• providing intellectual and physical access to quality materials in all formats (books, periodicals, A/V materials, and digital resources)
• providing instruction to foster competence and stimulate interest in reading, viewing, and using information and ideas
• collaborating with classroom teachers to integrate common core literacy standards throughout the curriculum

The goal of Saint Bridget School technology curriculum is to prepare students with digital-age skills they need to work, live and contribute to the social and civic fabric of their communities. All students will learn how to become good digital citizens in a technology filled world.

Emphasis is placed on using digital technology, communication tools and/or networks appropriately to access, manage, integrate, evaluate, create, and share information safely and effectively.

Students use technology as a tool to research, organize, evaluate, collaborate, communicate, and produce information. They develop a fundamental understanding of the ethical/legal issues surrounding the access and use of information.

Elementary students (Grs. 1-5)  are introduced to the inside and outside components of computers and the various functions of computers. Students begin typing skills in 2nd and 3rd grade. Students in grades three, four, and five learn to utilize Google Classroom for classroom projects. Students will learn how to become a good digital citizen, and basic research and citation skills. Projects for grades 3-5 will end with a game made with Code.org.

Middle School students (Grs. 6-8) enhance their skills by integrating projects from other academic areas into the more advanced topics in digital citizenship, research and presentation skills using multimedia and database concepts.

7th grade students are introduced to the history of the Internet with hands-on experience using HTML, Java, and CSS programing. They end the year with website creation.

8th grade students are introduced to concepts in Computer Science and advanced skills in coding. Students will work on a year long project to end with the yearbook for graduation and a slideshow presentation.

The primary mission of the physical education program at Saint Bridget School is to develop within each student the skills for lifelong physical fitness, the ability to cooperate with other people, the knowledge of various games and sports, and the ability to follow directions.

Goals Of The Physical Education Program

• Students will be able to perform gross motor skills such as jumping, skipping, and running.
• Students will be able to perform tasks using their fine motor skills in a variety of sports.
• Students will be able to learn a game/sport and play according to the rules of the game/sport.
• Students will be able to interact with other students by playing games/sports according to the established rules.
• Students will develop and perform wellness skills including good nutritional habits and fundamental exercise skills.
• Develop and demonstrate good sportsmanship.
